ImageIf you had a close look at your logs, you certainly could notice their crawls.
2007 has seen the birth of many stealth search engines, most of them created only for marketing buzz.
Hidden in the mass, could be what the search engines specialists named "the google killer", CUILL
. Google has some reason to fear CNILL,

Project CUILL Cuill is a startup founded by Tom Costello, Anna Paterson and Russel Power in 2007.
They invested several million dollars on their personal funds to launch the project and succeeded in also finding the financial support from Greylock Partners capital risks which added 4 million dollars.



The team behind CUILL

Tom Costello and Anna Paterson husband and woman, They created the search engine Xift in 1999. They met each other at the University of Stanford.

Tom Costello received his Ph.D. from Stanford in 1996, where he has been then teaching until 1999.
He reseached certain aspects of artificial intelligence like the simulation of human reasoning and feeling (common sense reasoning).
He also has been working for government agencies like the DARPA (knowledge bases), , for the US Air Force and for the CIA (data mining).
He takes part as technical Directeur in the adventure "Xift" in 1999, the company being directed by Anna Paterson. Xift was an original search engine, focused on mobile phone technologies. It categorized the pages of the Web automatically, and created summaries which made it possible to seek pages with a cell phone without having to post them directly. The project was abandoned in 2000.

Anna Paterson was recruited by Google, and took part in several strategic projects as the new index of Google baptized "TeraGoogle" (of which the implementation explains the appearance of the index called BigDaddy at the end of 2005 beginning 2006).
Anna Paterson has taken part in projects like Google Base and has been working on the relevance algorythm of adsense.
She is at the origin of the search engine "archive.org" architectur (WayBackMachine), baptized "Recall". The index of this engine is regarded as the largest in the world (more than 30 billion pages).

Russel Power, the third member of the trio joined after the creation of the company.
Russel Power, titular of Master degree of the University of Washington.
He worked two years on Google's automatic Spam control project ( Web pages classification algorithm ).
