I visited Sonoma 2 months ago and it is a mini vacation I will never forget. Like many of us I am burned out and tired of working 60-80 hour weeks and just needed some down time. My girlfriend suggested a trip to Sonoma. I’m not a big wine drinker and I absolutely loathe those elite wine drinking types. So I wasn’t real enthused when we went up for the weekend. Boy was I wrong! For starters, everyone in the area was really friendly, we had one sort of snooty experience at a tasting room. The poor girl serving us was super busy…maybe just a bad day. Anyway my girlfriend picked out this little B&B called Melita Station. It’s right next to a place call Annadale Park which is filled with incredible bike trails. To be honest we spent most of our time riding the trails. But we did get a day in where we went to some wineries in the Sonoma Valley. My girlfriend went to a site called SonomaUncorked.com and planned out a trip based on it’s reccomendations. We saved a lot of time because we knew where we wanted to go. First stop Loxton Wines in Glen Ellen. The wines were smooth and enjoyable. The winemaker Chris Loxton was right there on the premises and was super friendly! I thought winemakers were….you know…snobs. Anyway I can go on and on about my trip to Sonoma. Bottom line. It’s a cool place with lots to do. Rolling hills and vineyards all over the place. Definitely a great area to bring a date as it is very romantic. And the bike trails in Annadale Park can’t be beat. Can’t wait to go up again! |
